EditKit Privacy Policy

Effective 2 November 2026

This policy explains what happens to your information when you use EditKit, the Android media app. EditKit is made by Albard Basumata ("we"). You can reach us at support@editkitapp.com.

The short version

Your media files

You choose files with Android's system file picker, or by sharing them to EditKit from another app. EditKit can only read the files you choose. It does not ask for permission to read your media library.

All processing happens on your phone. While a job runs, EditKit may keep temporary working files in its private storage, and it deletes them when the job ends. Finished files are saved to your phone, in Music/EditKit or Pictures/EditKit.

A file only leaves your phone if you send it yourself, for example with the Share button. It then goes to the app you picked, and that app's privacy policy applies.

What stays on your phone

EditKit keeps a small amount of information in its private storage. None of it is sent to us:

This information is deleted when you clear EditKit's app data or uninstall the app. If you use Android's backup or move to a new phone, Android may copy it along with your other app data, except your Pro status and free-use counts, which are always left out.

Data collected by outside services

Google AdMob (ads)

EditKit only shows an ad when you choose to watch one to unlock an Advanced export. There are no ads on normal exports, and none for Pro subscribers. Google AdMob provides these ads through a software kit built into the app. According to Google's disclosure, the kit collects and shares the following for advertising, analytics and fraud prevention:

Google encrypts this data in transit. You can reset or delete your advertising ID in your phone's Android settings.

Where the law requires consent for ads, such as in the European Economic Area and the United Kingdom, EditKit shows Google's consent form before any ad. You can change your choice later in Settings → Privacy options.

Google explains how it uses this data in its Privacy Policy and on its page about how Google uses information from sites or apps that use its services.

RevenueCat (Pro subscriptions)

EditKit uses RevenueCat to check whether you have an active Pro subscription and to restore purchases. The app connects to RevenueCat to do this, including for people who have not subscribed. RevenueCat works for us as a data processor and handles:

As with any internet connection, RevenueCat's servers also see your device's IP address when the app connects. Data is encrypted in transit and is stored on servers in the United States. See RevenueCat's Privacy Policy.

Google Play (downloads and payments)

Google Play processes all payments. We never see your card, UPI or bank details. Google gives us limited order details, such as the order number, product, price, date and country. It also gives us statistics about installs and crash reports from phones whose owners allow it. See Google's Privacy Policy.

If you email us

We receive your email address and whatever you write, and we use them to reply to you.

Why this data is used

If data protection laws such as the GDPR apply to you, these are our legal grounds:

Sharing and transfers

We never share your media files, because we never have them. The data described above goes to Google and RevenueCat, who may process it in the United States and other countries, under their own safeguards. Otherwise we only disclose information if the law requires it.

How long data is kept, and how to delete it

Your rights

Depending on where you live, you may have the right to access, correct or delete your personal data, to object to or limit its use, to withdraw consent, and to complain to your local data protection authority. To use these rights, email us. We hold very little that can identify you, so for most data we will point you to Google or RevenueCat.

Security

Keeping your media on your device is our main protection: we cannot lose or expose what we never receive. Data sent to the services above is encrypted in transit. No system is perfectly secure, so we cannot promise absolute security.

Children

EditKit is not directed at children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect personal data from them. If you believe a child has given us personal data, email us and we will delete it.

Changes to this policy

If this policy changes, we will update this page and its effective date. We will tell you in the app if a change is significant.
